Open Question: Constant chest pain…anxiety?

by John Kernstein on September 22, 2009

I'm a 22 year old healthy female besides the fact that I have been smoking for about 8 years. Ever since I gave birth 7 months ago I have been getting chest pains. It's pretty constant and it happens everyday. I went to the ER and they did an ekg, blood work and a chest xray but everything came back perfect. The doctor said it's probably just anxiety and gave me xanax. I very rarely get anxiety attacks but I do feel nervous and anxious during the day. The xanax does help but I still get the chest pains. I have no idea what it's stemming from. I hope it is only anxiety but I'm worried its something more serious. I just recently got health insurance so I can start going to the doc in a few weeks. Any ideas whats going on with me? Oh and sometimes it feels like the pain might be coming from the side of my left breast and sometimes underneath it.
