Open Question: Has anyone been prescribed propranolol for symptoms of stopping hormone replacement therapy after menopause?

by John Kernstein on October 3, 2009

After many years of HRT my GP said it was time to stop (I am 70) I am in good health no hypertension or other heart related problems. But hot flushes, sleep issues, mood instability, brain fog and a feeling of being overwhelmed are persisting - four months since quitting HRT. From what I read about propranolol it seems like overkill for my symptoms. She was very enthusiastic about its effects so I filled the prescription and have been on it for three days but am having second thoughts. I take no other prescribed medication but do take a multivitamin plus calcium, fish oil, and St John's Wort. No history of clinical anxiety just sleep issues. Any suggestion?
