Open Question: People with Borderline Personality Disorder – Help?
by John Kernstein on October 3, 2009
Okay, I'm really not into this whole 'self diagnosis' thing. I think it's really annoying when people do it actually. So, I realise I'm being very hypocritical because I am about to do just that. Sorry. :S
Anyway, I'm 14 and am diagnosed with depression and generalised anxiety disorder. Now I'm wondering if there's a chance I have Borderline Personality Disorder. I know you may think it's just hormones and 'those awkward teenage years' or something. But is it normal for a teenager to have these symptoms?
-Attachment to people, usually authoritative figures (teachers, psychologist.) They usually don't know it either and when they leave me I become so distraught and depressed. It happened the worst with my dance teacher, I cut myself over it.
-Depression, obviously.
-I self harm and have an eating disorder
-Can't trust people easily, if at all
-Crushing feelings of emptiness (I can even sometimes feel it in my chest, like an ache)
-I don't know who I am. In class we had to do this summary of ourselves and I had to ask my friend for ideas because I just didn't know.
-Mood swings
-I do act impulsively (sneaking out at night with a friend to drink alcohol..) :S
Is this normal? Thankyou.x
Also, serious answers only please. (:
